New York Rangers 2025-26 preseason schedule: Dates, times for 6 games

The New York Rangers will play six preseason games ahead of the 2025-26 regular season, beginning with a road contest against the New Jersey Devils on Sept. 21. Their first home preseason game comes two nights later when they host the Boston Bruins at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 23.
The Rangers will face the Devils, Islanders, and Bruins twice each, splitting home and away contests with all three teams.
There’s much work to be done for the Rangers before then, after they missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in four years. They are actively trying to put together a deal to trade K’Andre Miller, and reportedly are targeting defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov in free agency. They also need to re-sign restricted free agent forward Will Cuylle.
The Rangers have already been pretty busy this offseason. They hired Mike Sullivan as their new coach, traded veteran forward Chris Kreider to the Anaheim Ducks, and re-signed four of their own RFAs, including forwards Matt Rempe and Adam Edstrom.
The Bruins and Islanders have their work cut out for them as well after also missing the playoffs this past season. Boston announced the hiring of Marco Sturm as their new coach, and the Islanders brought in new general manager and executive vice president Mathieu Darche. In addition, the Islanders own the first overall pick in this year’s NHL Draft, and are expected to select defenseman Matthew Schaefer from Erie of the OHL.
