Adam Fox comes off IR, Rangers send Jarred Tinordi to Wolf Pack
The New York Rangers announced that defenseman Adam Fox has been taken off injured reserve. To make room, they have also sent defenseman Jarred Tinordi to their AHL affiliate in Hartford.
Tinordi, 29, last played on January 10 against the Los Angeles Kings. He has 1 point in 7 games this season after signing a two-year deal with an AAV of $900K.
Adam Fox off injured reserve
The reigning Norris Trophy winner suffered his injury early in the third period of a Rangers’ 5-3 loss to Columbus on January 27. Fox was pinned up against the boards in what appeared to be an innocent play. However, as soon as he was released he gingerly skated to the bench in discomfort. He went to the locker-room and did not return.
Fox, 23, has recorded 136 points in 169 NHL games to go along with a +53 rating and only 60 penalty minutes. The native of Jericho, LI shocked the hockey world by winning the Norris Trophy for best defenseman in his sophomore season. A feat only accomplished by one other rearguard, Hall of Famer Bobby Orr.
“If [an injury] was going to happen, it’s perfect timing,” Rangers coach Gerard Gallant said via NHL.com. “We fully expect him to be back after the [All-Star] break.”
This season, he has 47 points in 44 contests which tied for first with Victor Hedman among all NHL blue-liners in scoring.
Fox missed the All-Star Game due to the injury. It would have been his first appearance.
