As expected Vitali Kravtsov will remain in Russia, and New York Rangers visa issues
Highly touted prospect, Vitali Kravtsov will remain in the KHL for rest of Traktor’s season according to the NY Post. Also staying in Russia will be defenseman Yegor Rykov who is behind other blue-line prospects like K’Andre Miller, Tarmo Reunanen, and Libor Hajek. All three will be at camp when it opens on January 3.
Vitali Kravtsov said he would play out the KHL season
In a feature on Traktor’s website, Vitali Kravtsov made it clear that the agreement was for him to play the entire season in the KHL. “I knew about it for a long time,” Kravtsov explained. “The [Rangers] and I had an agreement that I would spend the whole season in Chelyabinsk.”
The decision was made soon after the Rangers were eliminated by the Hurricanes. “We all came to the conclusion that I needed to play now,” he said.
At this time, the plan is for the Rangers to recall him when Traktor completes their season. That could be anytime in April and no later than March if Kravtsov and his team win the Gagarin Cup.
Visa issue for some overseas Rangers
On the last Forever Blueshirts podcast, Newsday’s Colin Stephenson explained that Alexandar Georgiev is still waiting on a work visa in Finland. His last one expired with his last contract. Unfortunately, last week the U.S. Consulate was shutdown with most of Finland due to a rise COVID-19 cases. The expectation is that the goalie should be able to get it this week.
Filip Chytil and Libor Hajek are also in the same boat. Due to the fact that each had their ELC’s slide one year, their 3 year work visas expired. This could be a concern with timing to arrive, quarantine, and get into camp when it starts.
