Canadiens and Senators interested in Rangers prospect Vitali Kravtsov
The New York Rangers and Vitali Kravtsov are working on finding a trade partner.
Prior to the start of the regular season, Kravtsov did not make the team. He was supposed to report to the Wolf Pack in the AHL. However, the former 9th overall pick in the 2018 Draft refused that assignment and was granted permission to find a trade.
Canadiens and Senators interested in Kravtsov
According to Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff, the Habs and Sens have contacted the Rangers about the 21 year-old forward.
League sources say the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators were the two teams who expressed the most interest in Kravtsov, who refused his assignment to AHL Hartford and forced his way back to Russia. The Rangers gave Kravtsov’s agent, Dan Milstein, permission to help seek a trade.

Currently, Kravtsov is on loan to Traktor in the KHL after officially signing a one year deal for the season. Other reports indicate that the Rangers can recall Kravtsov at any time. Considering how things transpired that’s unlikely to happen.
“I want to thank the Rangers for working with me, and appreciate the open and honest conversations we have had during this process,” Kravtsov said in statement. “While this has been a challenging time for me personally, I believe having the opportunity to return to Traktor and work on my game is the best thing for me right now. My main focus is getting better every day to continue towards my goal of playing hockey for the New York Rangers.”
It is believed that Chris Drury would like a top prospect back in return. Could Cole Caufield be a consideration from the Canadiens?
