What are the chances of the Rangers trading into the 1st round?
The NHL draft is just a few hours away and fans of the Blueshirts are still waiting for the “crazy off-season” Elliotte Friedman promised. One of the big questions, which was likely sparked by that photo tweeted yesterday, are the Rangers trying to trade into the 1st round?
Here’s what Jeff Gorton told ESPN:
Gorton said that while the Rangers would like to be picking in the first round, it’s difficult to trade up and that right now it’s “not the end all be all.” -Via SNY
Still, you have to wonder with all the noise about moving Rick Nash and/or Derek Stepan if they aren’t at least trying to? Here are some potential spots the Rangers could deal one of the two aforementioned stars to for a crack at their 1st round pick.
Colorado at 10
Minnesota at 15
Nashville at 17
Anaheim at 24
Dallas at 25
Will it happen? I think it is highly unlikely but if this off-season is supposed to be crazy then it doesn’t get nuttier than that.
