New York Rangers Daily: Streaking Blueshirts, Kaapo Kakko’s breakout game with Kraken

Holy smokes! The New York Rangers actually are on a winning streak!
For the first time since Nov. 14-19, when they won three straight, the Rangers have won consecutive games. The latest, was an exciting 2-1 Rangers victory against the Vegas Golden Knights to open a three-game Western road trip on Saturday.
Those two wins were against the New Jersey Devils, who are second in the Metropolitan Division, and the Golden Knights, the top team in the Western Conference. Not too shabby. They also coincide with Igor Shesterkin’s return from IR. The 29-year-old goalie was brilliant holding down the fort in the third period for the Rangers on Saturday and was rewarded when Adam Edstrom scored the game-winning goal late.
The Rangers are 4-1-1 in their past six games and remain four points behind the Columbus Blue Jackets for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference. They are only five points behind the Boston Bruins for the top wild card, too, it should be noted.
There are five teams between the Rangers and a playoff spot, but the arrow is definitely pointing up after a brutal two-month stretch.
