15 goalies with 400 NHL wins, after Jonathan Quick reaches milestone with Rangers

Jonathan Quick became the 15th goalie in NHL history to record 400 wins when he led the New York Rangers to a 4-2 victory against the Vegas Golden Knights on Feb. 2, 2025. Quick made 34 saves in the milestone victory. He waited exactly one month for it after securing his 399th career win against the Boston Bruins on Jan. 2.
Let’s take a closer look at the 15 goalies to achieve this NHL milestone.
15. Jonathan Quick

Jonathan Quick became the most recent goalie to join the 400-win club when he backstopped the Rangers to a 4-2 win on Feb. 2 against one of his former teams, the Vegas Golden Knights. The three-time Stanley Cup champion and 2012 Conn Smythe Trophy winner as playoff MVP is the all-time winningest United States-born goalie in NHL history. He earned the first 370 wins of his career and two Stanley Cup titles with the Los Angeles Kings.
14. Chris Osgood

Chris Osgood won 401 games in 17 NHL seasons, mostly with the Detroit Red Wings, for whom he began and ended his career. The three-time Stanley Cup champion with the Red Wings also played for the New York Islanders and St. Louis Blues. He’s the only goalie in NHL history to win 400 games and lose fewer than 250 (246, that includes 29 OT losses).
13. Grant Fuhr

A huge part of the Edmonton Oilers dynasty in the 1980s, Grant Fuhr won 403 games in the NHL. Ironically, he captured his 400th win playing for the Calgary Flames, Edmonton’s archrival, in the 1999-2000 season. Fuhr helped the Oilers win the Stanley Cup five times, won the Vezina Trophy in 1987-88 and is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

12. Glenn Hall

Glenn Hall is a Hockey Hall of Famer, who played from 1952-71 for three teams. He earned 276 of his 407 wins with the Chicago Black Hawks (as they were known back in the day) and helped them win the Stanley Cup in 1961. Hall also was a three-time Vezina Trophy winner, won the Calder Trophy as NHL rookie of the year in 1955-56 with the Red Wings and the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1968 with the Blues.
11. Sergei Bobrovsky

Sergei Bobrovsky picked up his 400th NHL win on Oct. 24, 2024, when he led the Florida Panthers past the Rangers 3-1. He’s the fastest goalie to 400 victories, doing so in 707 games. That milestone victory came four months after the two-time Vezina Trophy winner backstopped the Panthers to a Game 7 win against the Oilers for their first Stanley Cup championship.

10. Tony Esposito

Tony Esposito won 423 NHL games, all but five with the Blackhawks, from 1968-84. He stepped in to help the Montreal Canadiens win the Stanley Cup in 1969 and then won the Calder Trophy the following season with the Blackhawks. The brother of former Rangers and Boston Bruins great Phil Esposito was a three-time Vezina Trophy winner and is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.
9. Jacques Plante

The first goalie to ever wear a mask in an NHL game, Jacques Plante won 437 games and the Stanley Cup six times in his Hall of Fame career. Plante won the Vezina Trophy seven times and was named the Hart Trophy winner as league MVP in 1961-62. He starred for the Canadiens, Rangers, Blues, Toronto Maple Leafs and Bruins during his illustrious career.

8. Terry Sawchuk

Terry Sawchuk won 445 NHL games during his 20-year Hall of Fame career, including three seasons with 40 or more victories. Most of the wins (350) came with the Red Wings. Sawchuk won the Stanley Cup four times and the Vezina Trophy four times, and is second all-time with 103 regular-season shutouts, the last of which came with the Rangers against the Penguins on Feb. 1, 1970.
7. Curtis Joseph

Curtis Joseph played for six teams and won 454 games from 1989-2009. “Cujo” was the first goalie in League history to win 30 games in a season with five teams. Though considered to be one of the best goalies of his era, Joseph never captured a Stanley Cup championship nor won a major NHL award.
6. Henrik Lundqvist

Henrik Lundqvist is the winningest European-born goalie in NHL history, and is the Rangers franchise leader with 459 victories. Lundqvist had at least 30 wins in 11 straight full seasons to begin his NHL career (excluding the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season) and posted double-digit shutouts twice, including 11 in 2010-11. The following season, he won the only Vezina Trophy of his esteemed career.

5. Ed Belfour

Ed Belfour won 484 games over 17 NHL seasons with five teams. The first 201 victories came with the Blackhawks, for whom he won the Calder Trophy as NHL rookie of the year and the Vezina Trophy as top goalie each in 1990-91. Belfour also won the Vezina in 1992-93 and the Jennings Trophy for playing on the team which surrendered the fewest goals in the League four times. In 1998-99, he helped lead the Dallas Stars to a Stanley Cup championship. Belfour was enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011.
4. Roberto Luongo

One of the greatest goalies in the 21st century, Roberto Luongo finished his NHL career with 489 wins and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2022. Though he never won the Stanley Cup nor a Vezina Trophy, Luongo is the all-time wins leader for two teams — the Florida Panthers (230) and Vancouver Canucks (252). He also played for the New York Islanders, who selected him No. 4 overall in the 1997 NHL Draft.
3. Patrick Roy

Known for his fiery demeanor, butterfly style and championship pedigree, Patrick Roy had 551 wins in the NHL and landed in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2006. The only player to be voted Conn Smythe Trophy winner three times, Roy is a four-time Stanley Cup champion, winning two each with the Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche. Roy also won the Vezina Trophy three times and the Jennings Trophy on five occasions. As a coach, he won the Jack Adams Award as top NHL coach in 2023-14. He is currently coach of the New York Islanders.
2. Marc-Andre Fleury

Marc-Andre Fleury passed Roy for second on the all-time wins list during the 2023-24 season with the Minnesota Wild and is the winningest goalie currently playing in the NHL. A three-time Stanley Cup champion with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Fleury also led the Vegas Golden Knights to the 2018 Stanley Cup Final in their inaugural season. He won the Vezina Trophy with Vegas in 2020-21 and has twice topped 40 wins in a single season.
1. Martin Brodeur

Another three-time Stanley Cup champion, Martin Brodeur retired in 2015 with an NHL-record 691 wins. Considering no one is within 100 victories of him and goalies do not play as many games Brodeur did in his prime, this is a record that may stand forever. Brodeur played 70 or more games 12 times in his career and won 40 or more in eight different seasons. He collected a lot of hardware along the way, including the Vezina Trophy four times, the Jennings Trophy on five occasions and the Calder Trophy in 1993-94. Brodeur was enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018.
