In fantasy hockey, it’s not always about who scores the most points, although that certainly helps. Some of the players on this list may come as a surprise, which means they could be waiting to be claimed on the waiver wire.

10. K’Andre Miller – 29.10 points

K’Andre Miller has certainly made the most of his opportunity on New York’s top defensive pair top start the season. His 29.10 points come from one goal, a plus-three rating, nine shots, and nine blocked shots. He earned 351.40 points last season, and could surpass that with a solid year taking the next step in his game. Rostered in just 20 percent of leagues, he could be a good pickup on the blue line.
9. Filip Chytil – 29.20 points

Filip Chytil could be a steal for fantasy managers if he begins to up his offensive output, and if he can stay healthy, as he is rostered in just two percent of all leagues. Last season Chytil was out with injury for all but 10 games with a concussion, earning just 49.80 fantasy points. He is projected 318.40 this season, and should surpass that number. His 29.20 points come from one goal, one assist, a plus-five rating, eight shots, and two blocked shots.
8. Alexis Lafreniere – 32.20 points

Alexis Lafreniere is looking to take another step in the right direction after scoring 57 points and 516.30 fantasy points last season. So far, he’s off to a solid start. His 32.20 points come from two goals, three assists, eight shots, and one blocked shot. Rostered in 90 percent of leagues, there’s a slim chance he may be available as an easy waiver claim.
7. Chris Kreider – 32.80 points

Chris Kreider ranks seventh on the Rangers in fantasy points despite being rostered in 99 percent of leagues. His 32.80 points come from three goals, a plus-one rating, one power-play point, and 12 shots. He earned 715.40 points last season, and is projected to dip down to 594.30. Although, Kreider has been explosive offensively the past three seasons so keep an eye on him.
6. Will Cuylle – 36.90 points

Will Cuylle has quietly gotten off to a really good start on New York’s third line. His three points in four games and 36.90 fantasy points are good for sixth-best on the Rangers. Cuylle has earned points from one goal, two assists, an impressive plus-five rating, 11 shots, and three blocked shots. With a season rank of 102, it’s surprising to see him rostered in only three percent of all leagues. He could be a sneaky pick-up for fantasy managers.
5. Jacob Trouba – 37.90 points

Here’s a surprise. Jacob Trouba is the fifth-best Rangers player in fantasy points to start the season. After scoring just 387.10 points last season, he is off to a terrific start in 2024-25. His 37.90 points come from four assists, a plus-one rating, 11 shots, and 10 blocked shots. While he may not score as many points as some of the top defenseman in the League, he makes up for it in blocks, and is already having a better offensive season than last. It wouldn’t hurt to pick Trouba up, as he’s only rostered on 51 percent of teams.
4. Adam Fox – 42.80 points

Adam Fox is beginning to return to form after a tough run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs due to a knee injury. He put up a solid 680.30 fantasy points as a point-per-game defenseman in 2023-24 and you can expect Fox to crush that total if he can stay healthy all season. Thus far, he’s already earned 42.80 points from six assists, a plus-three rating, four power-play points, two shots, and three blocked shots. It’s only a matter of time before Fox finds the back of the net and continues to rack up points.
3. Igor Shesterkin – 43.20 points

Igor Shesterkin is already proving why he reportedly turned down an $88 million contract extension. Despite surrendering six goals against the Utah Hockey Club, Shesterkin has been stellar to start the season, and the third-best Ranger in terms of fantasy value. In three starts, Shesterkin has earned 43.20 points from two wins, seven goals allowed, 82 saves, and one shutout. He earned 656 total points last year, and should have no problem reaching that number once again.
2. Vincent Trocheck – 54.70 points

Picking up right where he left off last season, Vincent Trocheck is once again scoring at over a point per game pace. His 54.70 fantasy points come from two goals, four assists, a plus-two rating, four power-play points, 13 shots, and three blocked shots. Trocheck’s projected points of 584.90 is more likely to look like last years total of 717.50, if not more. Playing on one of the best lines in hockey with Artemi Panarin and Alexis Lafreniere certainly helps his case.
1. Artemi Panarin – 78.90 points

Playing some of his best hockey to start the season, Panarin is carrying fantasy teams with 11 points in his first four games. Panarin has totaled 78.90 fantasy points already, earning five goals, six assists, a plus-two rating, five power-play points, 11 shots, and one blocked shot. While Panarin is projected to finish the season with 742.50 points, expect much more. He finished last season with 989.70 fantasy points after scoring 120 points in the regular season. So far, he looks like he will reach that mark once again.
