New York Rangers NCAA prospect report: Gabe Perreault’s big night, Brody Lamb’s 1st goal
Seven New York Rangers prospects skated for their collegiate teams in NCAA action over the weekend. 2023 1st round pick Gabe Perreault led the charge for the Boston College with a three point night on Saturday in a dominating 5-0 victory over American International College.
Already up 1-0 in the first period, Perreault made the score 2-0 on the power play with his second goal of the season. He found himself alone on the right side and called for the puck. and then did not hesitate to fire a shot past the goaltender.
Perreault also served as playmaker, collecting two primary assists on goals he set up for teammates Will Vote and James Hagens. In the second period, Perreault skated through three defenders and sent a blind pass to Vote for a 3-0 lead.
The 19-year-old forward has five points (two goals, three assists) in three games.
Hagens, the projected No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, scored his first career NCAA goal after being set up on a great cross-crease feed from Perreault in the second period to make the score 5-0. Perreault had one goal and two assists for three points in the win with one shot and a plus-2 rating. He also won two face-offs. Teammate Drew Fortescuen a Rangers defenseman prospect, had one shot with a plus-1 rating and a minor penalty for tripping.
Boston College played an exhibition against the U.S. National Team Development Program U-18 team on Saturday, and came out with a 8-4 win. Perreault contributed on two goals for the Eagles, burying a one-timer and assisting on another tally by Hagens off a 2-on-1 rush.
Boston College will host Western Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, MA.
As for Western Michigan, the Broncos picked up a 6-2 victory over Bowling Green on Thursday. Freshman Ty Henricks, a 2023 Rangers draft pick, had one shot on goal and one blocked shot, skating as the fourth-line right wing. Henricks was moved to left wing Saturday night for an exhibition against York University (Canada).

Rangers forward prospect Brody Lamb moves up, scores first goal for Minnesota
Junior Brody Lamb and Minnesota Golden Gophers were on the road to take on rival Minnesota-Duluth in a non-conference matchup. After starting the last game on the right side of the fourth line, Lamb was moved up to the second line left wing. The move paid off, since the Rangers fourth-round pick in 2021 scored his first goal of the season. In the first period with his team already up 1-0 and on the power play, Lamb followed up his own shot and put in the rebound for the goal.
This is what the coaching staff wants to see from Lamb, who can be a lethal threat to score from anywhere on the ice when he decides to look for offense. He added an assist and finished the game Friday with three shots and one blocked shot with a plus-1 rating in a 7-5 win.
Lamb had one assist Saturday, his second of the season, on the Gopher’s third goal which was an even-strength marker at 9:12 of the second period. Minnesota defeated Minnesota-Duluth by a score of 5-1. Lamb now has a stat line of one goal and three assists for four points in four games this season. Minnesota will host a pair of games against St. Thomas on Oct. 25 and 26.
E.J. Emery had three blocked shots and a plus-1 rating Friday night when the North Dakota Fighting Hawks defeated Minnesota State 3-2. The Rangers top pick this year was the right-side defenseman on the second pair. Emery had one shot on goal and one blocked shot with a minus-1 rating during a 3-0 loss Saturday. North Dakota will host Boston University on Oct. 25 and 26.
Another freshman defenseman, Rasmus Larsson, saw his Northern Michigan Wildcats team split decisions against Alaska Anchorage. Larsson skated on the left side of the second defensive pair during both games. He had four blocked shots in a 2-1 victory Friday night and two shots on goal with three blocked shots during a 5-3 loss Saturday. Northern Michigan will host Arizona State on Oct. 25 and 26.
Harvard captain Zackary Karpa served as the third line center for the Crimson, who came from behind to defeat the U.S. NTDP U-18 team by a score of 5-4 in exhibition play Friday night. On Saturday, Karpa was credited with an assist and one shot on goal, and was a terrific 10 for 13 on face-offs, during a scrimmage against Boston University. Harvard begins regular season and ECAC play against Dartmouth College on Nov. 1.
