Rangers trim roster for opening night
The Blueshirts 23 man roster is as follows:
Forwards (13): Sammy Blais, Filip Chytil, Julien Gauthier, Barclay Goodrow, Dryden Hunt, Kaapo Kakko, Chris Kreider, Alexis Lafreniere, Artemi Panarin, Ryan Reaves, Kevin Rooney, Ryan Strome, Mika Zibanejad
Defensemen (8): Adam Fox, Libor Hajek, Ryan Lindgren, Nils Lundkvist, K’Andre Miller, Patrik Nemeth, Jarred Tinordi, Jacob Trouba
Goaltenders (2): Alexandar Georgiev, Igor Shesterkin

Chris Drury was forced to take advantage of the waiver exempt status of both Barron and Kravtsov in order to protect Gauthier, Hajek, Hunt, and Tinordi rather than risk losing any of them on waivers.
It’s is believed that the Rangers are actively shopping some of these players.
As for Barron, the 22 year-old picked up no points in 4 preseason games. He still has plenty of promise but is not ready to take over as the full-time 4th line center.
Kravtsov, 21, scored one goal, on the power play, in three preseason games. The Rangers will look to bring him up as soon as they clear room.
