NHL Roundup: Evander Kane gambling allegations; and more free agent signings
Evander Kane is under fire for allegedly gambling and possibly throwing his own games according to multiple reports. The accusation stems from Instagram posts that appear to be from his wife.
Yesterday, the NHL responded to the allegations with a statement.

The League was made aware this evening of a post on social media alleging that San Jose Sharks Player Evander Kane bet on NHL games. The integrity of our game is paramount and the League takes these allegations very seriously.
We intend to conduct a full investigation and will have no further comment at this time.

Maple Leafs sign both Bruins unqualified RFA’s
The Toronto Maple Leafs signed free-agent forward Nick Ritchie to a two-year contract worth $5 million. His AAV will be $2.5 million.
Ritchie, 25, had 26 points (15 goals, 11 assists) in 56 regular-season games and added four points (one goal, three assists) in 11 playoff games with the Boston Bruins last season.
They also signed free-agent forward Ondrej Kase to a one-year deal Friday worth $1.25 million.
Both were originally restricted free agents because the Bruins did not make them a qualifying offer.
More NHL signings
Newly acquired forward Ryan Reaves and the New York Rangers agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2022-23 season on Saturday. Terms were not disclosed, but Reaves is signed for this season at a cap hit of $1.75 million. Reaves’ new deal will be in that range, according to Sportsnet.
The Edmonton Oilers were very busy on Day 1 of Free Agency. One of the many transactions they made was acquiring Warren Foegel in a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for defenseman Ethan Bear. Foegele, 25, signed a three-year, $8.25 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.
The Winnipeg Jets on Saturday agreed to terms with forward Riley Nash on a one-year contract for the league minimum salary of $750,000. Nash, 32, recorded seven points (two goals, five assists) in 37 games last season with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs on April 9 and held without a point in two playoff games.
The Detroit Red Wings re-signed forward Tyler Bertuzzi to a two-year contract on Saturday. Financial terms were not disclosed by the team, however multiple media outlets reported the deal had an average annual value of $4.75 million.
