Injury bug hits several teams
The NHL injury bug has been working overtime these last few weeks. Reports out of Winnipeg have Jets scoring star Nikolaj Ehlers out for the remainder of the season. The Jets are hopeful that Ehlers will return for the playoffs.
NHL Rumors: Fate of Travis Green and other NHL coaches unknown
One NHL coach’s future seems fairly clear in John Tortorella. He is reportedly not expected back as head coach of the Blue Jackets with the belief being it is a mutual parting of ways. What is unclear is where he is going to land next. My personal favorite are the Buffalo Sabres. Torts has a proven track record for laying a winning foundation and that’s what they need. However, coaches like Travis Green have a more uncertain path forward.
Alexis Lafrenière now a first line player
There was a lot of hype when the New York Rangers won the NHL Draft Lottery to select Alexis Lafrenière first overall. New York in their entire history had picked first overall only once in 1965, when they selected winger André Veilleux.
NHL News: Wayne Gretzky believes Connor McDavid can get 100 points this season
Wayne Gretzky is amazed with Connor McDavid and his legitimate quest for a 100 point season in a 56 game schedule. “It wouldn’t surprise me if he gets more than 100 points,” Gretzky told Sportsnet’s Mark Spector. “Just to show people he’s capable of doing it.”
Rangers stay alive in playoff race
Press the pause button before writing off the New York Rangers. Even though it appeared they suffered a set back with back to back losses last week, a combination of two NY wins and two Boston losses have closed the gap to 4 points with 7 games remaining. Two of which are against the Bruins.
