Rangers grant Chris Drury permission to interview for Panthers GM position
Assistant General Manager, Chris Drury has been granted permission by the Rangers to interview for the open GM job with Florida. This is according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman who previously mentioned he was under consideration.
Chris Drury under consideration
Friedman speculated in his last 31 Thoughts blog, that the Panthers could be honing in on Chris Drury. It also wouldn’t be the first time teams came knocking for Drury, but the question was would the Rangers let him go? Now we have an answer.
New York is building an incredible prospect pool and Drury had a lot responsibility in developing that pipeline. If the Panthers can’t land Drury, Friedman also mentions Scott Mellanby, Laurence Gilman, and Michael Futa as candidates.
Rangers extended Chris Drury this season
Just this past March, both GM Jeff Gorton and Asst. GM Chris Drury were extended. The Rangers believe highly in both of them, but just they aren’t going to stand in the way of Drury becoming the head guy in Florida.
