The NHL is expected to make a Mid-January start date official later this week. A host of players are making their way back over from Europe and the New York Rangers are no exceptions.
Igor Shesterkin traveling back to New York
Larry Brooks reported earlier this evening that goaltender Igor Shesterkin is on his way back to New York. The Rangers new number one backstop lived up to the hype with a 10-2 record in 12 games. The 24 year-old did that with an impressive .932 SV% and 2.32 GAA.
Last season, Shesterkin basically helped propel the Rangers into playoff contention with stellar net-minding. He did so in impressive fashion earning a 7 game winning streak that included victories against Toronto, Winnipeg, and Carolina. He also faced over 40 shots in 5 of his 12 starts, winning every single contest.

The Rangers top right-wing coming into the season is chilling stateside as is evident with a recent Instagram post. Pavel Buchnevich is in the final year of a bridge deal with much to prove.
Last season, the 25 year-old scored 16 goals and 46 points in 68 contests. He will need to hold off Kaapo Kakko who is expected to come into his own this season.
