Rangers Roundup: Artemi Panarin only 99% happy, Zac Jones plan, and more
Artemi Panarin is only 99% happy. Don’t get him wrong, he’s ecstatic about being a member of the New York Rangers but he want to leave some room there for something special.
Artemi Panarin wants to win the Stanley Cup
Last night Panarin scored a goal in the second period to notch his 138th point on Broadway. He now holds the record for most points in the first 100 games with the Rangers held by Mark Messier. When asked about it the Breadman was appreciative of his teammates but said he wasn’t aware about the points. “I always try to play 100% and I’m very thankful for my partners who helped me get to this point – I’m not happy 100%”
Panarin was asked to expand on what he meant by that comment. “Maybe I’m happy 99% – you always have to keep in mind that perfection is never there. Until you win the Stanley Cup, it’s not there.”
The Rangers best player always appears to be the happiest guy on the ice. What would he do if he ever won Lord Stanley’s Cup? I can’t wait to see it.
Zac Jones plan
Zac Jones drove into New York and did not need to quarantine. So what’s the plan for the freshly signed NCAA Champion with UMASS.
“It’s day by day, we’ll see how he adapts -see how he adjusts,” head coach David Quinn said yesterday. “There’s not a lot of practice time, so it’s going to be hard to evaluate him in a lot of ways at the pro level, but we’re going to do the best we can, and if we feel he gives us an indication he can help us, he’ll play.”
The expectation is that he will get in some games this season. Maybe towards the end with less than 10 games to play. Regardless, this is a great experience for him to be around the team even on the taxi squad. With the NCAA season now finished he was only going to sit home and wait, so this was the best option for a multitude of reasons.
