Rangers Roundup: Casino Night, Henrik Lundqvist situation, and more

Last night the Rangers hosted Casino Night at Tao, NYC to raise money for The Garden of Dreams. Every Blueshirt was there to participate in a night of fun and mingle with the fans for a great cause.

Lundqvist’s Mistreatment

Larry Brooks, who obviously has no fear of being shut out by the Rangers wrote a fairly scathing article about their handling of Henrik Lundqvist.

Lundqvist could see this coming, I could see this coming, just about everyone could see this comingbut no one, but no one, could see it coming exactly like this, with the hierarchy essentially telling the future Hall of Famer that he’s no longer good enough to play for the team.

NYPOST

The article goes on about a buyout this summer, which I just don’t see happening from a financial standpoint. A trade is more likely but Hank has given zero indication he’s changed his mind about waiving his clause. However, wouldn’t it make more sense that the Rangers are heavily showcasing Alexandar Georgiev for a trade versus sending some underlying message to Hank to leave? I mean if they really wanted to send that message they’d put him in the press box and keep him out of the locker room. Instead they dress him nightly to maintain his leadership presence on ice.

No, I think there’s a game plan and Henrik knows what it is. Even Larry Brooks admits he has no idea what management has told him. It isn’t stopping him from leaping to conclusions based on what he is seeing. So, I pose the counter argument that they’ve asked Hank to remain patient as they work to move Georgiev this week. Considering that word has leaked out that he doesn’t want to leave, my assumptions are as good as Larry’s.

Casino Night

Henrik Lundqvist was there looking his usual dapper self as was Chris Kreider. Both Rangers have been at the center of plenty of rooms as of late, but by all accounts truly enjoyed and took in the evening. This is a highly recommended event that any Rangers fan should attend at some point.
