Rangers Roundup: NHL Playoff odds and record breakers
The Rangers last night won a game in dramatic fashion when Mika Zibanejad almost blasted the net to the the boards in OT. That win was the Rangers 8th straight road win and a franchise record, they also increased their playoff hopes and the long shots may be the favorites soon enough.
Playoff Odds
The Rangers are now 4 points out of the last wild card spot but have three games in hand on the Blue Jackets. This current hot streak has them almost even with Columbus to make the playoffs. Of course the Islanders and Canes are ahead of them in points so they do have their hands full.
Record Setters
The Rangers extended their road winning streak to eight games (dating back to Jan. 16 at NY Islanders) and have outscored their opponents, 30-15, over the eight contests. The Blueshirts’ eight-game road winning streak is now the longest in franchise history (the Blueshirts had previously posted two seven-game road winning streaks in franchise history – from Jan. 12, 1935 at NY Americans to Feb. 12, 1935 at St. Louis Eagles; from Oct. 28, 1978 at Montreal Canadiens to Nov. 29, 1978 at Atlanta Flames). The Rangers’ eight-game road winning streak is also the longest road winning streak in the NHL in 2019-20.
