Rangers Roundup: Rick Tocchet to interview, Chris Kreider named for King Clancy Trophy, Sean Monahan trade and more
Another very busy day with the New York Rangers. Here’s a brief roundup of all the news and headlines concerning the Blueshirts.
NY Rangers news: Rick Tocchet to interview for Rangers coaching job
Elliotte Friedman is reporting that Rick Tocchet will be interviewed by the New York Rangers for the vacant head coaching job. Additionally, Frank Seravalli is noting that the Seattle Kraken will speak with him as well.
The 57 year-old former NHL power forward took the reins as head coach of the Coyotes back in 2017. Tocchet amassed a 125-131-34 record with Arizona during his tenure. He is widely considered an up and coming coach who knows how to relate to his players. Many in NHL circles view his record as a feat for getting more with less than any other coach.
Expect more coaches to be spoken to soon.
The Blueshirts’ newly installed president-general manager has previously met with Gerard Gallant, who entered this derby with the shortest odds. It is believed that Drury has been in contact with both John Tortorella and Patrick Roy, though it does not seem that their talks could be construed as job interviews.
