The latest around the web concerning the New York Rangers.

Panarin’s Agent Drops a Hint?

The dynamic offensive winger has been linked to the Rangers since the summer. As of right now, the only news to report is that Panarin and his representation have a scheduled meeting for some time during the break.

The word out of Columbus is that Panarin is very happy there and enjoying his leadership role. Columbus is playing well as they currently sit in first place in the Metro. Yesterday, Panarin’s agent Dan Milstein responded to a fan’s tweet on signing Panarin long term.

So does this reveal anything? Yes it does! Milstein like any good agent wants to make sure his client gets the best contract possible, and a long term contract accomplishes that. Now will it be with Columbus? Let’s just say at this point they have the inside track to make it happen.

The Rangers laid a bomb last night in Ottawa. It was easily the most inept offensive performance of the year. I mean they got shutout by the worst defensive team in the entire NHL. It wasn’t pretty.

David Quinn is dealing with many injuries to his forward group and had to dress 7 D last night. It was noted that Kevin Shattenkirk didn’t get a single shift in the third. When Quinn was asked about it he said sternly, “That’ll be between Kevin and I.” (said at the 1:58 mark)

So what do we take away from this? If we all recall during the offseason there was a love fest between Quinn and Shattenkirk. This just seems like Quinn expects more and wants more from someone he believes should be one of the team’s best players.

While I see lots of trade talk, I think Quinn will get the best out of Shattenkirk. I say this because I believe no one wants this to work out more than Shattenkirk.
