New York Rangers re-sign Brandon Scanlin to two-way deal

The New York Rangers reached a pre-arbitration agreement with defenseman Brandon Scanlin on Tuesday morning.

Per CapFriendly, it’s a one-year, two-way deal for $775,000 (NHL) and $100,000 (AHL).

Scanlin, 24, registered 4 goals and 11 assists for 15 points in 61 games last season with the Hartford Wolf Pack. He added 1 assist in 9 playoff matches.

New York signed the undrafted NCAA free agent to a two-year contract during the 2021-22 campaign out of the University of Nebraska-Omaha. In his final college season, Scanlin posted 31 points (6 goals, 25 assists) in 36 games.

The 6-4 and 214 pound left defenseman impressed head coach Kris Knoblauch in his 15 game stint, recording 1 assist. After an impressive full season with the Pack in 2022-23, the physical blue-liner earned himself this extension.

While he was able to produce offensively at the college level, he’s been a strong defender with the Pack. Look for him to remain in Hartford’s top four this upcoming AHL season.
