Report: Arizona emerges as likely hub city for NHL return

In an interview last month on NHL.com, the Commissioner admitted there are plenty of plans but no matter which they select, it will be done with consulting medical experts. Gary Bettman reiterated that the NHL can easily play late into the summer and play a full season in 2020-21 but start much later.

Leading “Neutral” Sites

The idea of playing in a non-NHL city, like New Hampshire was put the bed because a small college arena simple does not work logistically. Bettman stated that so far it could be up to 4 NHL cities that are in good shape coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic. When it comes to what those 4 potential sites could be, Frank Seravalli of TSN stated Toronto, Pittsburgh, Edmonton, and Dallas are good candidates. At that time I also received word that 2 likely hub cities would be Arizona and Carolina. Now it appears that one can be confirmed.

Arizona’s Governor did make it clear that this will not be rushed and no fans will be in attendance to start. Stay with us as more news comes out.
