Report: Rangers and Lundqvist to part ways tomorrow with buyout
Darren Dreger is now reporting that the Rangers and Henrik Lundqvist will be parting ways as soon as tomorrow. “The time has come for the two sides to separate,” he said on TSN.
UPDATE: Now confirmed.
Lundqvist buyout
“I believe that the New York Rangers, as early as Wednesday will move forward with the buyout,” Dreger reporter. So this now signals and end of era when coupled with Marc Staal’s trade. This will leave Chris Kreider as the longest serving Ranger.
Henrik Lundqvist is 38 years-old and has one year left at $8.5 million. When Rangers buy him out, they will have to eat $5.5 million on the cap, but gain a crucial $3 million is space.
