The Blueshirts were eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs in the Eastern Conference Final a little over two weeks ago.

Fans are about to realize how short the offseason can be after five years of not making the playoffs and then going on a deep run. In a little over a week from now, the NHL Draft will be upon us on July 7th and 8th in Montreal.

Currently the Blueshirts have four (possibly five) draft picks.

  • Round 2, 31st pick, 63rd overall
  • Round 4, 14th pick, 111th overall
  • Round 5, 30th pick, 159th overall
  • Round 6, 30th pick, 191st overall

That will be followed by the opening of free agency on July 13th, which usually has a big opening day but signings continue for several days after.

New York has several restricted and unrestricted free agents as follows:

  • Kaapo Kakko (RFA)
  • Alexandar Georgiev (RFA)
  • Libor Hajek (RFA)
  • Julien Gauthier (RFA)
  • Andrew Copp (UFA)
  • Ryan Strome (UFA)
  • Frank Vatrano (UFA)
  • Tyler Motte (UFA)
  • Kevin Rooney (UFA)
  • Justin Braun (UFA)
  • Greg McKegg (UFA)
