New York Rangers sign first round pick Braden Schneider to contract

The New York Rangers have signed 2020 1st round draft pick Braden Schneider to and entry level contract. It should be noted that the deal starts next season 2021-22.

Rangers ink Braden Schneider

The Rangers traded up this past draft to select the physical defenseman. So far the move looks like a wise one as he continues to impress at every level.

Schenieder played a big role for Team Canada’s Silver Medal run at the World Juniors. He picked up an assist in two games with the Wolf Pack before heading to his WHL team, the Brandon Wheat Kings. Upon his return, Schneider was named their 64th captain in franchise history.

Rangers sign Mason Geertsen to a two-way contract

The Rangers also signed Wolf Pack defenseman, Mason Geertsen to a 2 way deal. He was previously on an AHL only deal. This indicates to me that the Rangers may likely be selling on Brendan Smith and Jack Johnson at the trade deadline.

They will need options for the taxi squad and Geertsen has played well since joining the Pack.

Sabres need to get real about Jack Eichel

Buffalo is going to need to temper expectations on a return if they trade Eichel.
