Nils Lundkvist dominates in weekend action with three goals and four points

When New York Rangers prospect Nils Lundkvist announced he would be signing with Lulea in the SHL for one more year, there was some disappointment. The uncertainty with COVID-19 in North America made it an easy one for Lundkvist.

“I’ve come to the conclusion that it would be best for me to stay another season in Luleå Hockey,” Nils explained about his decision. “This means that I will be able to accumulate even more experience until the day I go over (to the Rangers).”

A smart move for Nils Lundkvist

Lundkvist whom the Rangers selected with their third first round selection in the 2018 NHL Draft is on a tear this season. This coming off the heels of an incredible season where he was named the top young player of the SHL.

This weekend, the bluechip prospect on the blue-line notched three goals and one assist in 2 games. He now has 9 points (5G, 4A) in 15 games this season while averaging a healthy 20:37 of ice per game.

His third goal of the season highlights why the Rangers and NHL experts view him as a can’t miss prospect.
