Pray For Paris

Screen Shot 2015-11-13 at 9.20.35 PMI’ve been sitting here for hours praying for the victims in Paris. I pray for the mothers and fathers that will not be able to kiss and hold their children anymore. I pray for the children, who will never hear mommy or daddy say “I love you” anymore.

This is a painful reminder of how I felt on September the 11th, 2001. That was before I had children of my own. I cried for days then, I will quietly do so again. My son could not understand or rationalize what the news was saying, so I changed the channel. How do I explain to a 10 year old the insanity of this world? That in the shadows lies a large group of idealogical terrorists that will strike when no one expects it. How do I explain that and not destroy his illusion of safety?

My heart breaks.

Now is not the time for angry words. Now is the time to pray for those that have lost their lives senselessly. Now is the time to pray for those who’s lives are forever changed in the wake of these atrocities. Now is the time to grab your loved ones and hold them just a little tighter. Now is the time to pray and say to God, I’m sorry for not doing this more often. No matter what you believe, we are all in this together and only together can we heal and overcome.

May God Bless Paris. May God comfort the mothers and fathers of the victims. May God Bless the children of Paris and all children around the world. May God Bless us all and let justice be served swiftly.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

PSALM 23:4
