Here is my Quick Hits recap of the Rangers 3-2 win against the Flyers

  • JT Miller – Another very good performance for JT today. He made the play to force the turnover leading to the goal by Stepan, and was all over the puck. He had 3 hits, a blocked shot and the takeaway. He has been one of the most improved players so far this season, and has been living up to the expectations.

  • Kevin Hayes – Another great game for Kevin Hayes. He was always noticeable on the ice, and was in the perfect position for his redirect goal. There really are no more words to described how he has played this season. If he keeps this up, he may be in the conversation for the Hart trophy at the end of the year.
  • Matt Puempel – In his first game with the Blueshirts, Matt Puempel had an impact. He was in good position all game, and scored his first as a Ranger, finishing off a beautiful saucer pass from Jimmy Vesey. We don’t know how long Puempel is expected to be in the lineup, but with games like this, he makes it hard to be replaced by AV.
  • Jimmy Vesey – After only putting up 1 point in the last 5 games, AV moved Vesey down to the 4th line, and Vesey responded. Vesey had the assist on Puempel’s goal, and played a good all around game. Hopefully this will spark him to his earlier form.
  • Chris Kreider – Kreider was all over the place. He played the physical game today, racking up 5 hits, and had the Rangers first fighting major of the season. He made a strong defensive play towards the end of the game, leaning on Matt Read and taking him out of the play. He may not have ended up on the score sheet, but he did have a big impact on the game.
  • Henrik Lundqvist – King Henrik played one of his best games of the season today. He arguably stole tbhis one for the Blueshirts, as the Flyers outshot the Rangers 42-23. This was the kind of bounce back game that he needed, and this will hopefully get him back into the right direction.
