Raanta re-Antti’s: Rangers take first steps to reducing Lundqvist’s workload

The New York Rangers have announced the re-signing of capable backup Antti Raanta today.

Terms of the deal are not yet official, but it looks like a 2 year deal at 1M per season.

This is a great deal for the Rangers because it solidifies them in goal for the next two years. That will take Henrik Lundqvist to 36 years of age and allow the Rangers goaltending prospects time to continue developing.
Another helpful aspect of this signing should be the reduction of Hank’s workload to a more manageable 55-60 games a year. Now let’s see the Rangers stick to that gameplan.
