Rangers are in a Win, Win, Win situation after NHL announcement

Earlier today, Gary Bettman announced the NHL’s Return To Play plan after the NHL season was suspended in March due to the COVID-19 outbreak. A 24 team tournament was presented and one of those teams included are the New York Rangers.

This would mark the team’s first “playoff” appearance since 2017 and this time around, it seems to come with a plethora of good scenarios for the boys in Blue, no matter the circumstance. You can say the Rangers are in a win-win situation. New York has been matched up with the Carolina Hurricanes, who famously voted no to the new format.

Win-Win for the Rangers

In this set up, if the Rangers beat Carolina and advance to the official 16 team playoffs, they will go into the running to fight for the Stanley Cup, giving this young team much needed playoff experience. They can still get a potential lottery pick from Carolina if Toronto loses as well. If the Rangers lose, their chances of a lottery pick will sky rocket and will allow them to acquire a player in the draft that can add to an already solid, young and dynamic roster that’s only moving up. A win, win, win if I’ve ever seen one.

Safe to say, this is an exciting day for Rangers fans as well as the entire hockey community, as this is the first step to returning to some kind of normalcy. Here’s to some exciting hockey coming up in the next few weeks. Forever Blueshirts will be with you all the way, as we have been before and during these unprecedented times.
