With the Rangers getting set for training camp, new head coach David Quinn spoke to the media to give his thoughts on the offseason, and his plans for the coming campaign.

On his philosophy coming into camp, Quinn said that his message will be that the team has to work on continuing to get better. “I want to talk about getting better on a daily basis … We want to be a fast, physical and relentless team.”

When discussing the captaincy, or current lack thereof, Quinn said he would wait to see how things play out before determining who would be the 28th captain in Rangers history.

Quinn is happy that there is going to be a lot of fierce competition for roster spots, saying that there is nothing better.

On his expectations for the team coming into the season, Quinn said that the team wants to win every game. He also added that he is expecting the returning players to step up their play in 2018-19.

Finally, on his relationships with some of his new “co-workers”, Quinn said that he has become fast friends with assistant coach Lindy Ruff. In spite of what some people think about Ruff, his knowledge of the game and experience as a head coach will help Quinn as he continues to get adjusted to being a full-time bench boss in the NHL. Quinn also discussed Henrik Lundqvist and said that he wants to be around for this organizational transition.
