Rick Nash once again opened the scoring on a gorgeous setup from Martin St. Louis. It was another display of Nash’s speed and skill that make him the goal scoring leader in the NHL with 32. Cam Talbot was a late replacement for Henrik Lundqvist, who is day to day with a neck bruise, picked up the victory.

Of course, nothing is ever easy with the Rangers as they actually ended the first period down 2-1. More careless defensive zone mistakes and sloppy plays at both ends of the ice led to Boston’s lead.

However, the Rangers speed in the second period was just too much for Boston to handle as both Derick Brassard and Derek Stepan tallied to give the Blueshirts a 3-2 lead they would not relinquish.

Cam Talbot wasn’t tested much but proved steady and capable in Lundqvist’s absence. Once again, the Rangers showed why they are one of the top team’s in the NHL thanks to great goaltending on any given night.

NY is now 2 points behind Metro division leading Pittsburgh Penguins (2 games in hand) and 1 point behind the 2nd place Islanders (1 game in hand). The Rangers will have back to back games this weekend as they travel to Nashville to face the Predators and return home against the Dallas Stars.

If Lundqvist is unable to go in those two contests, they are in capable hands with Cam Talbot. It also helps to have one of the league’s best players scoring almost at will in Rick Nash.
