Alexis Lafrenière and Kaapo Kakko have been used on the PK and it’s possible they could get more reps there in the regular season per Gerard Gallant.

When it come to Lafrenière on the top line, Gallant feels he’s played really well with Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider. It’s expected that Kreider will make the move to the right side for the next game.

On naming a captain, Gallant said that it will be before opening night on October 13. Kreider and Jacob Trouba are considered front runners.

The NHL Network announced today that former Rangers GM Jeff Gorton will be joining the team. Per the press release, he will appear on NHL Tonight™, NHL Now™ and On The Fly™. He will debut on NHL Tonight this Friday, October 15 at 6 p.m. ET alongside Tony Luftman and Mike Rupp.

“I’m really looking forward to joining the staff at NHL Network,” said Gorton. “It’s an exciting opportunity to share my knowledge and experiences alongside a group of hockey experts who have a strong passion for the game.

The 53 year-old executive has been getting more involved on the media side since being relieved of his duties with the Blueshirts. He made quite a splash on a podcast when talking about the Tom Wilson incident.

“No, I didn’t know it was going to turn into that, it surprised me,” Gorton said. “Obviously, I lost my job – it probably has to be more than that. I don’t know but it has to be more than that – it can’t be just one thing.”

Good luck to Jeff on his new endeavor.
