The New York Rangers will face the Florida Panthers for the first time this season. This will be a litmus test for where the team is at coming out of the rebuild.

The Blueshirts will look to keep their trend of picking up points against the Panthers. In five of their last six meetings and 10 of the last 12, they’ve garnered at least a point. During that span they are 6-2-4 and have averaged 3.92 goals per game.

Rangers that can tame the Cats:

Chris Kreider – 23 GP, 7G-11A—18P – Kreider has points (4G-6A) in five of his last seven games and is a plus-6 against the Panthers dating back to November 28, 2017. Kreider has two three-point games and two multi-point games in his career against Florida. With 18 points, Kreider has the eighth most points all-time for a Ranger against the Panthers, one point shy of tying Alex Kovalev and Derek Stepan’s 19.

Mika Zibanejad – 20 GP, 7G-6A—13P – Zibanejad has points in four-straight and seven of his past nine games against Florida. On Oct. 23, 2018, Zibanejad registered two goals and two assists for four points in a 5-2 New York win.

Artemi Panarin – 11 GP, 2G-11A—13P – Panarin is currently riding a seven-game point streak (2G-10A) against the Panthers, including a four-point (1G-3A) output on Oct. 11, 2018 while with Columbus.

Far from home: This is only the team’s fourth home game this season (1-1-1). Tied for third least. The Rangers are 5-2-2 away from MSG.

Home cooking: Both Artemi Panarin and Adam Fox are tied with four points at home.
