The New York Rangers and Alexis Lafreniere have come to terms on a bridge deal for two-years at $2.325 million, per Larry Brooks of the NY Post.

Lafreniere, 21, is entering his fourth season with the Blueshirts after being taken first overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

The news shouldn’t be considered a surprise to many that have been following this story closely.

While participating in the Pro-Am charity in Mid-August, Lafreniere told La Presse’s Simon Olivier Lorange to expect a deal soon.

“It’s coming,” Lafreniere said. “My agent and the Rangers are in discussions, I hope it will be settled in the next few weeks.”

Lafreniere has posted just 91 points in 216 regular-season games thus far in his career.
