University of Wisconsin

The Badgers played two games this weekend against the Clarkson Golden Knights at the Kohl Center (home of the Badgers). After a disappointing loss on Friday night against the Golden Knights by a score of 4-0, the Badgers came back Saturday night with a much better game. They defeated Clarkson Saturday night by a score of 4-3.

The Badgers were without one of their top players in King’s draft pick, Alex Turcotte. After their split this weekend, the Badgers find themselves 4-2, and currently ranked 7th in the nation. They were previously ranked 6th before the series split against Clarkson. Let’s take a look at the game.

Friday 10/25 VS. Clarkson

In the opening tilt of a back-to-back with Clarkson, the Badgers who were without Alex Turcotte, played a game in which they should throw away the tape. They could not get out of their own zone, and were inept offensively. They did not generate very many chances, and those they did were not A+ chances. After a first period goal, the Badgers only found themselves down 1-0. Entering the second period down just 1-0 the Badgers still had some life. After a lack of offense to start the second period, the Badgers found themselves down 2-0 heading into the third period. They ultimately lost the game 4-0, and got set to take on Clarkson again Saturday night.

Saturday 10/26 VS. Clarkson

After a relatively bad showing from the Turcotte-less Badgers Friday night, the again Turcotte-less Badgers took the ice against Clarkson for the second of a back-to-back. After a scoreless period, the Badgers found themselves in a 0-0 tie and having been shutout for four straight periods dating back to Friday night. Just 1:57 in the Badgers broke their scoreless streak on a goal from Roman Ahcan, 1-0 Badgers. It was only three minutes later that the prolific Goal Caufield found the back of the net giving the Badgers a 2-0 lead. Just three minutes later, after serving a minor penalty, Rangers prospect jumped out of the penalty box, and gave the Badgers a 3-0 lead on this beautiful goal.

The Badgers were rolling with a 3-0 lead heading into the third period. The Badgers unfortunately blew the lead and found themselves in a 3-3 game with just over a minute to go. It was with 7 seconds left, that Owen Lindmark scored and gave the Badgers the 4-3 lead, and ultimately the win. Aside from the 3rd period, the Badgers cleaned their game up and came out of the Kohl Center with a win. They are now 4-2, and find themselves ranked 6th in the nation.
