Shattenkirk addresses media about Rangers rumors and future; plus Gorton talks

Shattenkirk’s Twitter Profile pre trade.
Kevin Shattenkirk spoke with the media about being traded and dropped some very direct and interesting quotes about his future.
About the possibility of ending with the Rangers before the deadline:
“That headline has been out for a longtime, even back to last summer, so…There’s been a lot of different scenarios that have popped up this year. You can’t allow yourself to think about one team…Especially with when you get traded during the year you realize different scenarios pop up for different teams and the situations they’re in. I haven’t gotten to caught up in worrying about where I was ending up.”
Irony of facing the Rangers first:
“Yeah that’s wild. It happens when guys get traded, they’re playing their former team or back home. The beauty of it is I get to play in front of family and friends tonight. I think I turned some NYR fans into Caps fans tonight.”
Why he won’t sign an extension:
“What it comes down to as a player this is a chance you don’t get many kicks at. You just have to make sure it’s the right situation…In my mind, it’s just something I want to continue to pursue I guess.”
See you in the Summer Shatty!

Gorton Not Done?
Steve Zipay sent out a series of tweets that shed light on the deadline so far:
Gorton: “Like everybody else, we’re all talking. What’s going to happen? I don’t know. I think we’ve had a pretty good year….(more)”
— Steve Zipay (@stevezipay) February 28, 2017
Gorton: “…think we’ve got a ways to go to get to where we want to, but if something is out there that will improve any area, we’ll do it.”

Gorton and STL: “We had conversations and at some point we decided that it wasn’t in our best interests to go forward.”

Gorton on Buch: “23-man roster still today. In order 2 make the deal, we needed 2 make a move; other thing is Pavel needs to play (more)…”

Gorton: No current knee issues for Smith. “He’s healthy, 100%, last few games played over 20 minutes.”
— Steve Zipay (@stevezipay) February 28, 2017
Gorton: “Just to add a piece to do it because he have the space, I don’t think that would be the brightest thing to do.”
— Steve Zipay (@stevezipay) February 28, 2017
Gorton wouldn’t comment on Shattenkirk future: “He’s a player on another team, we’re not allowed to talk to him.”

To sum up…the Rangers are looking but aren’t going to make a move for the sake of making one. These quotes should also dispel any notion that the Rangers might be sellers.
