His returns to Madison Square Garden, like during the Stanley Cup Playoffs with the Carolina Hurricanes last season, frequently are met with boos and expletive-laden chants.

DeAngelo discussed his turbulent downfall with the Rangers during the 2020-21 season and tried to set the record straight when he appeared on the Morning Cuppa Hockey program Wednesday.

Clearly, DeAngelo still isn’t happy with how a postgame physical altercation with goalie Alexandar Georgiev was handled by the Rangers. Though, it should be noted, the 28-year-old does understand his role and fault in what happened.

“It was just, to me, one of them situations where if I would’ve done the right thing from the start, from the beginning of training camp, none of that probably would have happened. But it did,” said a reflective DeAngelo. “The only part I regret is what happened after — how out of control it got — that we weren’t able to get ahead of it in a quicker way where people could’ve got to the truth.”

The incident took place on Jan. 30, 2021, in the season that began late due to the coronavirus pandemic. DeAngelo and Georgiev had a miscommunication on who should play the puck in overtime against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Shortly afterward, Sidney Crosby scored the game-winning goal in a 5-4 Rangers loss. Heading back to the dressing room at The Garden, DeAngelo and Georgiev exchanged words before things got physical.

“Obviously there’s way more to it than just the incident with ‘Georgie’ at the end of the year,” DeAngelo explained. “Rewind a little bit; that was during the election — President transition — I had gotten in some trouble about some questionable tweets I made that offended some people, offended season ticket holders, all that stuff which, once again, totally understood.”

That was followed by a season-opening loss to the New York Islanders when DeAngelo took what he perceived to be a weak holding penalty on Mat Barzal and slammed the door of the penalty box, receiving an extra two minutes of penalty time to the displeasure of coach David Quinn.

“‘Quinnie’ and I disagreed about it. I wind up sitting the next two games, so the season starts out a little bit rocky, unfortunately, and that was due to my fault,” DeAngelo admitted. “I wasn’t handling that very well at the time.”

DeAngelo returned to the lineup, but his outburst against Georgiev two weeks later proved to be the final straw. He only played six games that season for the Rangers after being placed on waivers and going unclaimed after that Penguins game.

“You fast forward to the Georgie incident, which was probably the least worrisome incident out of all of them, but I guess just the icing on the cake.”

DeAngelo went on to explain his perspective of the altercation that resulted in his release.

“It was a tough game. He struggled, I struggled in the game. We’re playing against Pittsburgh, going down the tunnel, I yelled at Georgie. ‘Make a bleeping save.’ So if I didn’t yell at Georgie, Georgie wasn’t gonna turn around and do anything. That’s a fact. So obviously I started it. Georgie’s running hot after the game and he turns around and fires a headbutt at me.”

DeAngelo responded by slapping Georgiev’s mask with his stick and the fight was quickly broken up.

“I had a feeling something was gonna come there. I thought I was gonna get traded, to be honest with you,” DeAngelo said. “It wasn’t a total shock that I was gonna be out of there at that point cause the season started off so rocky — and a lot of it being my fault.”

DeAngelo added that he’s since crossed paths with Georgiev and the two are in a fine spot, albeit not the closest of friends.

“I never blamed [Georgiev] as far as that, that was just heat of the moment. What I blame is what happened after, how it was a bit of a 180 as far as how things were handled with each individual,” DeAngelo explained, referring to the fact that Georgiev remained with the Rangers until the end of the 2021-22 season, after which he was traded to the Colorado Avalanche. “But I knew there was stuff beforehand that I put myself in a tough spot. That incident there was honestly the least of my worries, but it was the most public thing that came out that blew up.”

Former Rangers defenseman refutes incident with K’Andre Miller

Georgiev was not the only player rumored to have tension with DeAngelo, who also addressed reports of bad blood between himself and then-rookie defenseman K’Andre Miller in 2020-21.

“What bugged me the most was the stories that came out about K’Andre — that idiot wrote that story, it was so stupid,” DeAngelo said, referring to a story by Adam Herman of Bleacher Report in the days following his incident with Georgiev. “What happened, though, was those stories trended so much and had so many clicks and views that people are gonna believe them when they see it. That’s just the power of the media.”

Herman reported from an external source that DeAngelo stole the puck from Miller’s first NHL goal and that there were internal concerns about DeAngelo’s treatment of his Black teammate.

ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski, as well as all parties involved, were quick to refute the story — but that didn’t stop it from becoming part of the complicated saga for DeAngelo.

“It just blew way out of control,” DeAngelo said. “Everyone was looking for something big, I guess we gave it to them. They just bugged me, the stories that came out, they were so far-fetched and almost like viciously made up, And the crazy part is, it had a big effect on what happened that year and I obviously went unclaimed.”

DeAngelo added that he reached out to Miller after the report surfaced and noted that the two had a nice exchange and were able to put the story to bed.

DeAngelo’s unceremonious exit and reports of locker room drama have made him an easy target for Blueshirts fans, most recently displayed in the second round of the playoffs this past spring.

“The fans’ passion, I think, is hilarious. I was the same way growing up,” DeAngelo chuckled. “Contrary to what the Rangers fans think, I think it actually helps my game. I love it. I think it’s great.”

There was a time that DeAngelo was a successful and popular player with the Rangers, before everything unraveled. After DeAngelo, the No. 19 pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, was acquired by the Rangers from the Arizona Coyotes in a summer of 2017 deal that included Derek Stepan and Antti Rantta leaving New York and a first-round pick heading East, the defenseman had some big years with the Blueshirts.

DeAngelo made his Rangers debut that fall, but broke out two seasons later, finishing 12th in Norris Trophy voting with 15 goals and 53 points in 68 games during the 2019-20 season. That earned him a two-year, $9.6 million extension after he finished with the fourth-most points among NHL defensemen.

The Rangers paid him for playing only six games in 2020-21 and then bought out the rest of his contract. He went on to post 51 points (10 goals, 41 assists) for the Hurricanes in 2021-22 and 42 points (11 goals, 31 assists) for the Philadelphia Flyers the following season. He was back in Carolina as the seventh defenseman last season, returning to a regular role after Brett Pesce was injured in the playoffs.

Now, he’s still searching for an NHL job and recent reports link him to possibly signing in the KHL.

It should be noted that his behavioral incidents in New York were not an isolated incident.

Reports of issues date back as far as 2014, when he was suspended multiple times in the OHL for altercations with both referees and teammates. DeAngelo was suspended three games during his rookie season for assaulting a referee as a member of the Coyotes. On top of repeated on-ice incidents, he’s become a polarizing figure due to some of his aforementioned political commentary.

But DeAngelo doesn’t seem overly bothered about his public perception and seems to be generally well-received by teammates, including the likes of Adam Fox and Pesce, who were mentioned to be strong supporters of their former teammate during the interview.

“I’ve had a couple of tough years unfortunately, but the one thing that I’ve always been happy about is that I’ve always been a good teammate, ” DeAngelo reflected. “Sometimes I’ve been tough on teammates, 100 percent — but off the ice and on the ice when they were in need, I’ve always been a good teammate. When it’s all said and done, that’s more important to me — the relationship I have with guys than what other people are gonna be saying about me.”

Rangers likely to buyout Patrik Nemeth, and will Alexandar Georgiev get traded https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/new-york-rangers-analysis/rangers-buyout-patrik-nemeth-georgiev Thu, 07 Jul 2022 12:46:53 +0000 https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/?p=424307 [sendtonews key=”peKAXibZ” type=”player”]

The New York Rangers will be present at tonight’s NHL Draft being hosted in Montreal. The Canadiens hold the first overall selection while the Rangers have no picks after completing the conditions of the Andrew Copp trade. Winnipeg now has that selection which went from a conditional second-round pick to a first after reaching the Eastern Conference Final.

Chris Drury is also up for the Jim Gregory Award as GM of the Year. Despite having an amazing first season as a general manager, Forever Blueshirts has been told that’s he unlikely to win it.

Here’s a quick look at the Rangers’ picks and where they are slotted:

  • Round 2, 31st pick, 63rd overall
  • Round 4, 14th pick, 111th overall
  • Round 5, 30th pick, 159th overall
  • Round 6, 30th pick, 191st overall

Update: The Rangers have acquired a 3rd and 5th round pick in the 2022 Draft from the Avalanche for Alexandar Georgiev. Full details here.

New York Rangers Patrik Nemeth buyout

While the Rangers have four picks at this moment, any trades over the next two days of this draft could increase or decrease that amount.

Since they were eliminated, Chris Drury has been working the phones to trade Patrik Nemeth and Alexandar Georgiev with little success. As the insiders love to say, that could all change with a phone call.

However, when it comes to Nemeth a buyout is the most likely scenario to get some of his $2.5M AAV for the next two seasons off the books.

The 30 year-old defenseman finished with 2 goals and 7 points in 63 games. Nemeth had -9 rating but posted solid numbers in the blocks (102) and hits department (115). The biggest issue was his inability to suppress shots despite who his partners were as he finished the season with a 40.7 CF%.

Forever Blueshirts was told that trading Nemeth’s entire cap hit would require attaching a second round pick. Considering the few selections the Rangers have they are unwilling to do so.

According to Larry Brooks of the NY Post’s latest reporting the Rangers are likely to buyout Nemeth before the first buyout window closes on July 12. That’s also the day before Free Agency opens.

Per CapFriendly’s buyout calculator, a Nemeth buyout would add $1.5M this offseason to work with. It’s even bigger in 2023-24, where the full $2.5M is back on the books. That’s just in time for Alexis Lafrenière, K’Andre Miller, and Filip Chytil’s new deals. There’s a -$1M penalty for two seasons after which the Rangers can easily manage.

Rangers asking for too much for Alexandar Georgiev

alexandar georgiev
Perry Nelson-USA TODAY Sports

Over the last week, multiple reports indicate that the Rangers are asking for a high pick or a prospect that is waivers exempt for the rights to Alexandar Georgiev.

There were teams interested in acquiring the pending RFA since January, but from what I gathered the best offer received came from the Edmonton Oilers and it was a mid-round pick.

The Colorado Avalanche also had some interest, but as they work to re-sign Darcy Kuemper they’re likely no longer in the mix. It was also rumored that the New Jersey Devils had some interest but they’ve set their sights on UFA Ville Husso. One other possibility are the Toronto Maple Leafs but they’re targeting Marc-Andre Fleury in free agency.

At this time it looks like Drury overplayed his hand. Georgiev is owed a $2.65M qualifying offer on July 11th and it’s unlikely the Rangers will extend it and thus make him a UFA on July 13.

Teams knew this, which is why the ask was nonsensical to them. Maybe tonight, if Drury comes down drastically the Rangers could get a third or fourth round pick for his rights.

Rangers Alexandar Georgiev drawing interest from the Oilers https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/new-york-rangers-news/rangers-alexandar-georgiev-drawing-interest-from-the-oilers Thu, 06 Jan 2022 14:22:01 +0000 https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/?p=410068 New York Rangers goalie Alexandar Georgiev finished a great performance in a 4-1 win over the Oilers on Monday with a giant smile on his face. During his 33 save effort, he made a sparkling glove stop on Connor McDavid that brought the Garden crowd to its feet.

Chants of “Georgi, Georgi” rained down on the netminder immediately after he flashed the leather. However, it wasn’t just the eyes of Ranger fans he caught.

Oilers interested in Rangers’ Georgiev

The Edmonton Oilers lost for the fifth straight time on Wednesday. Toronto picked up a 4-2 win and the Oilers players were visibly frustrated on the bench during the game.

Mike Smith started the game in net and was victimized by two fluky goals, including one that he kicked in himself. Goaltending has been an issue for the Oilers for years and it is something they need to address.

Nick Kypreos discussed the Oilers search for a goaltender on his Sportsnet podcast and dropped this nugget.

“Georgiev is out there. They are talking about him and there’s no way the Rangers are keeping him,” Kypreos said. “He comes in at $2.5M the rest of the year. He wants to be a number one goaltender and he’s not happy in New York.”

“I don’t think it would take much more than a third rounder (to get him),” Kypreos added.

While I agree with Kypreos that the Rangers will not be keeping Georgiev for next season due to cap constraints, I don’t believe Chris Drury would trade him right now. Nor do I believe he’d do so for just a third round pick.

The question to be answered is if the Rangers would be comfortable with an Igor Shesterkin and Keith Kinkaid tandem for the stretch run and playoffs. Should the answer be yes, I think no less than a second round selection gets it done.

Remember, Georgiev is an RFA this summer and that means they still own his rights. That makes a draft day trade more likely than one in March.

Georgiev has been stellar

alexandar georgiev
Danny Wild-USA TODAY Sports

Georgiev’s play since stepping into the third period of 1-0 lead over the San Jose Sharks to replace an injured Igor Shesterkin on December 3rd has been stellar.

Since that time, Georgiev’s stats rival that of his counterpart. In 8 appearances he is 4-2-1 with a 1.70 GAA and a .940 SV%. Shesterkin’s stats since that game are 3-1 with 1.89 GAA and a .940 SV%. Impressive goaltending indeed from the Blueshirts backstops.

“I think a lot of credit should go to the defense, they cleared the way for me to see the puck,” Georgiev said. “The big difference from last year is sacrificing so much to do the little things to win games.”

Georgiev, 25, is now 6-3-2 with a 2.72 GAA and a .908 SV%. He’s come a long way from his bloated GAA of almost 5 and subpar SV% of .850.

New York Rangers make moves as Alexandar Georgiev clears COVID protocol https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/new-york-rangers-news/new-york-rangers-make-moves-as-alexandar-georgiev-clears-covid-protocol Sat, 01 Jan 2022 18:56:06 +0000 https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/?p=409881 The New York Rangers announced several transactions as goaltender Alexandar Georgiev cleared COVID-19 protocols.

With that move, Keith Kinkaid has been moved to the taxi squad sending Adam Huska back to the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Alexandar Georgiev clears COVID protocol

Georgiev, 25, was placed in COVID protocol on December 26. Thanks to the NHL reducing the quarantine period from 10 to 5 days he spent only five days on the list.

The goalie played a key role for the Rangers while Igor Shesterkin was out due to a lower-body injury since December 4. He posted a 3-2-1 record with a .931 SV% and 2.00 GAA in his six appearances before Igor was taken off IR and the team went on break.

Defenseman Ryan Lindgren was also placed on COVID protocol at the same time. He could be back for tomorrow’s rematch against the Lightning.

In hindsight the New York Rangers should’ve kept Lundqvist and traded Georgiev last season https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/new-york-rangers-games/in-hindsight-the-new-york-rangers-shouldve-kept-lundqvist-and-traded-georgiev-last-season Sun, 28 Nov 2021 16:04:45 +0000 https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/?p=408490 The New York Rangers have certainly done many things right over the last few seasons. However, since hindsight has perfect 20/20 vision, it looks like the organization may have completely misplayed their goaltending situation regarding backup Alexandar Georgiev.

Of course, at some point we can revisit this after the season to see if I’m wrong. At least for now, it seems that maybe moving Georgiev for whatever they could get and keeping Lundqvist for one more year would’ve been the better route.

Rangers should have kept Lundqvist

Back at the end of the 2020 season, the team opted to hold on to Georgiev and buyout Henrik Lundqvist. A move that upset the fanbase and caused two years of dead cap space that ends this season with a remaining $1.5 million.

Things have not turned out as they hoped with the 25 year-old Georgiev struggling mightily this year.

At one point this summer, the Rangers were said to be shopping Georgiev. According to Larry Brooks, they didn’t receive a single bite.

Georgiev, unhappy with his status as backup to Shesterkin, has wanted out for a while, even if he might never have formally requested general manager Chris Drury to trade him. The Blueshirts made Georgiev available over the summer, but never got more than a nibble.

NY POST

One of the main reasons for the lack of interest could have also been the rumored asking price from Chris Drury of a first round pick. A sign that the organization has likely overvalued Georgiev’s worth around the NHL for a long time.

As for Lundqvist, after the buyout he signed a one year deal with the Capitals but never played because of a heart condition that needed surgery and eventually forced him to retire.

While Hank may not have been able to help the Rangers on the ice, he would’ve retired a Ranger and that would’ve meant a lot to fans of the team.

As for Georgiev, the Blueshirts likely would’ve gotten a second round pick for him at the 2020 Draft.

Georgiev probably going to be lost for nothing

alexandar georgiev trade
Sarah Stier/Pool Photo-USA TODAY Sports

The Blueshirts are certainly in a conundrum and face the real fact that Georgiev could be lost for nothing. Either on waivers or just letting him walk at the end of the season.

Georgiev is an RFA with arbitration rights, with sources indicating the Rangers have no plans to sign him.

It’s hard to see any team giving up much for him at this point. This season, he has a 2-1-1 record with a 4.08 GAA and a SV% of .858. Could he even fetch a mid-round pick at this juncture? Likely not.

Right now, Drury’s best play is to keep him around and see if he can find his game again. It’s also possible that if Georgiev finds no takers on the open market the Blueshirts could get him back for less than his current $2.425 cap hit.

The Rangers will have plenty of UFA options also to pick from in free agency. Some of those potential names include Braden Holtby, Darcy Kuemper, and Martin Jones.

In the end, Igor Shesterkin will probably have a new partner via free agency to back him up in 2022-23.

Rangers bound to lose Alex Georgiev or a good forward in 2021 Seattle Expansion draft https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/new-york-rangers-news/rangers-bound-to-lose-a-alex-georgiev-or-a-good-forward-in-2021-seattle-expansion-draft Tue, 05 May 2020 21:04:07 +0000 https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/?p=391953 One of the big issues about doing the draft in June before the season has been either cancelled or concluded is how it hurts GM maneuverability with trades. This summer was a big one for GM Jeff Gorton and the Rangers. He has a host of RFA’s to make decisions on and the possible future of Henrik Lundqvist on his hands. Regardless of what the rules will be for this draft on trades, I am pretty sure moving roster players is not going to be possible.

Understanding the Expansion Rules

In a nutshell here is what you need to know from a Rangers perspective:

  • The NYR can protect up to 7 forwards, 3 defensemen, and 1 goaltender (teams can also choose to protect 9 at any position)
  • If a player has a no-move/trade clauses they must be protected (unless they agree to waive it)
  • If a player has 2 years or less experience in the AHL or NHL they are automatically exempt.
  • The Rangers must expose players who meet certain criteria. There must be at least one defensemen and two forwards who are under contract for 2021-22 and played at least 40 NHL games in 2020-21 or 70 NHL games total since the start of 2019-20.
  • The Rangers must also expose a goaltender who is either under contract for the 2021-22 season or about to enter restricted free agency.

*Second City Hockey used as reference for rules.

Who is Protected?

I doubt the Rangers will only protect 9 players regardless of position. The good news is they won’t have to worry about losing the following players due to the 2 year rule. There are others but these are the obvious exempt ones:

Additionally, due to clauses in their deals these players will be automatically protected:

What Will the Rangers Do?

The Rangers are very likely going with the 7-3-1 protection plan. Now, assumptions need to be made that 4 RFA’s (Strome, DeAngelo, Lemieux, Georgiev) will be signed and Jesper Fast will be lost to free agency. Here is my projected list.

Forwards: Panarin (NMC), Kreider (NMC), Zibanejad, Strome, Chytil, Buchnevich, Lemieux

Defense: Trouba (NMC), DeAngelo, Lindgren

Goal: Georgiev (If they can sign or trade for a goalie to expose)

Who Will They Lose?

You will obviously note that players like Henrik Lundqvist, Marc Staal, and Brendan Smith are not mentioned. That is because all three will have their contracts expired by 2021. I also believe, Jeff Gorton will have a goalie he can expose to protect Georgiev but he is at risk.

If you look at the roster, the most obvious candidate the Rangers could lose are either Brett Howden or Julien Gauthier. Also the Rangers could expose Lias Andersson if he is still on the roster, but unless he plays in the NHL next year Seattle will be looking at Howden. Another remote possibility is a player like Libor Hajek who has had difficulty cracking the Rangers lineup.

So when it comes to 2021 and it is time for Seattle to pick a player from the Rangers, it is my best guess that Brett Howden will be wearing a Kraken or Sasquatch jersey that season.

Alexandar Georgiev gets the start but what’s next for Rangers 3 goalies https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/new-york-rangers-games/alexandar-georgiev-gets-the-start-but-whats-next-for-rangers-3-goalies https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/new-york-rangers-games/alexandar-georgiev-gets-the-start-but-whats-next-for-rangers-3-goalies#comments Fri, 07 Feb 2020 18:41:10 +0000 https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/?p=388653 Alexandar Georgiev is set to man the pipes for the New York Rangers tonight at the Garden against the Buffalo Sabres. This is Georgiev’s first start since January 21st in a loss against the Islanders. There was some thought after Igor Shesterkin’s stellar performance against Toronto that he would get the nod, but David Quinn had to find a game for Georgiev.

3 Headed Goalie Monster Rolls On

It’s been a long wait for Georgiev but getting the start against the Sabres makes sense. The 23 year old goalie sports a 2-0 record against them with a 1.50 GAA and an excellent .961 SV%. I wouldn’t call this easing him in against the likes of Jack Eichel and Jeff Skinner but Buffalo is struggling overall.

Shesterkin (Newsday/Bill Mercey)

Looking ahead, Igor Shesterkin playing Sunday against the Kings is likely and then I’d expect the Rangers to turn back to Henrik Lundqvist on the road Tuesday in Winnipeg. This is going to continue to not be optimal until the Rangers move Georgiev at the trade deadline.

If the Rangers don’t, then the logical conclusion would be to send Shesterkin back down to Hartford and get ready to play in the AHL playoffs (unless the Rangers are still in the hunt).

NHL Trade Rumors Roundup 2/6/20 https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/new-york-rangers-rumors/nhl-trade-rumors-roundup-2-6-20 Thu, 06 Feb 2020 15:22:12 +0000 https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/?p=388621 Tick Tock, Tick Tock, as the clock speeds up to the trade deadline. The LA Kings and Toronto Maple Leafs got the ball rolling with a trade last night that landed Kyle Dubas his sought after back up goalie. Let’s dive into that and more in this latest edition of NHL Trade Rumors.

Kings and Leafs kick it off

The Kings will retain 50% of Clifford’s salary but they have officially started the rebuild. Now the shift will be on moving D-man, Alec Martinez in the next few weeks. According to Elliotte Friedman he thinks Nashville is a likely destination.

As far as the Leafs are concerned, they get a cheap backup and some additional forward depth in order to trade Kasperi Kapanen for the top 4 defenseman they need.

Carolina and Georgiev?

The Rangers want an NHL ready forward for Alexandar Georgiev. The Carolina Hurricanes are looking for a goalie that could possibly become a starter. Of course, Carolina could also look for cheaper options if they decide they can’t meet the ask by Jeff Gorton. I consider them, San Jose and New Jersey the most willing to meet what the Rangers feel is fair.

Tata Tatar

The Montreal Canadiens are said to be listening to offers on the 29 year old forward who has one year remaining on his deal before being a UFA. Tatar would make a nice addition for any team looking for bottom 6th depth for the playoffs.

I think the Oilers have, at the very least, looked into Tomas Tatar. (Pittsburgh would be another team with interest.) GM Ken Holland knows him very well. Again, though, Montreal feels injuries derailed its season and wants to be competitive in 2020-21. So you’ve really got to move the needle to get the Canadiens’ attention.

Rangers Roundup: Panarin all Hart, Buchnevich, Kreider, Georgiev, and more https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/new-york-rangers-rumors/rangers-roundup-panarin-all-hart-buchnevich-kreider-georgiev-and-more https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/new-york-rangers-rumors/rangers-roundup-panarin-all-hart-buchnevich-kreider-georgiev-and-more#comments Sat, 01 Feb 2020 15:54:24 +0000 https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/?p=388445 The Rangers will be in Detroit tonight to complete the home and home series with the Red Wings. Last night, Artemi Panarin helped propel the Rangers with 2 points and now has 70 points in 48 games for 5th best in the NHL. He is only 9 points behind Leon Draisaitl who has played 3 more games than the Breadman. Impressive.

Hart Talk

It’s time for Artemi Panarin to be a major contender for the Hart Trophy as the league MVP. The last player to win it without his team making the postseason was Mario Lemieux, it may be time for it to happen again.

Georgiev: The Rangers are sticking with the 3 goalie system as expected. A league source told me that Toronto’s interest has dropped as they are focused on getting a defenseman. On the flip side, the Sharks are hot for a goalie and feel Georgiev is a starter for them as both Martin Jones and Aaron Dell have faltered. READ MORE

Kreider: We’ve been saying that even if the Rangers wanted to keep Kreider, where they are as a franchise , what his contract would be, and how tantalizing the offers are going to be will see him moved at the deadline. There are at least 8 teams interested in him at the moment. READ MORE

Buchnevich: So let me get this straight, he poses no cap issues and is on pace for 45 points which would be a career high (he scored 43 in 2018). In essence, the Rangers have a young cost controlled talented winger, who continues to show improvement, and Brooks thinks the Rangers might want to trade him. We need to discuss this. READ MORE
