Trouble Brewing: Elliotte Friedman Reveals Large Money Gap For Brassard
Elliotte Friedman has revealed that RFA Derick Brassard is seeking a deal worth 4.95M. On the surface, that is much better than previously reported number around 5.5M!
So what’s the issue? The Rangers are only offering 3.825M! That is gap of over 1 million dollars and this could be heading to arbitration. Which is unfamiliar ground for the Rangers in recent memory.

Let’s not get all gloom & doom either. If Brassard is only looking for 4.95, a long term deal near that number would be more palatable to the Rangers for the 26 year old center.
Brassard’s arbitration hearing is set for this Monday in Toronto. Jeff Gorton, NYR assistant GM will be representing the Blueshirts’ case. If the Rangers follow their pattern, they will find common ground before Monday, like they did with Zuccarello and Kreider.
