Wolf Pack Announce New Assistant Coach

On Tuesday morning, the New York Rangers announced that Joe Mormina will be the new assistant head coach for the Wolf Pack. He joins fellow assistant coach Pat Boller and head coach Keith McCambridge behind the Hartford bench. Prior to the hire, Mormina was the assistant coach at Mercyhurst University for the 2016-17 season, after ending his playing career with the Rochester Americans in the 2015-16 season.
Joe Mormina was a respected veteran in the American Hockey League. The former defenseman played 670 games in the minors and laced up the skates in the NHL just once with the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2007-08 season. Despite not sticking in the pros, the veteran continued to push himself hard. As he grew older, Joe Mormina adopted himself as an established and well-respected veteran in the league. He began to help prospects grow on the blue line by taking them under his wing. He accepted this role and excelled in the position.
The upcoming season will be the second year on the bench for Joe Mormina. He will be working with the team’s young defense. He knows what its like to be on the ice in any given situation. He will guide defensive players with tips and make sure he maintains a healthy relationship with them. The bench is officially set.
