Adam Fox made his way down the red carpet in style at the NHL Awards Show in Nashville, Tennessee but unfortunately came up against Erik Karlsson for the James Norris Trophy.

Despite missing out on his second NHL’s Best Defenseman nod, the 25 year-old was named a First Team All-Star.

Fox finished this past season eighth among all defensemen with 72 points (12 goals, 60 assists) and a plus-28 rating through 82 games for his second consecutive 70-point season. The last Rangers’ defenseman to accomplish that was Brian Leetch (two times, most recently in 1995-96 and 1996-97). Oddly enough, Leetch was also the last blue-liner to record 100+ points (102 points, 1991-92) until Karlsson posted 101 to win the Norris.

Here are your 2022-23 First Team All-Stars:

  • Connor McDavid (Center, Edmonton Oilers)
  • Jason Robertson (Left Wing, Dallas Stars)
  • David Pastrnak (Right Wing, Boston Bruins)
  • Erik Karlsson (Defense, San Jose Sharks)
  • Adam Fox (Defense, New York Rangers)
  • Linus Ullmark (Goalie, Boston Bruins)

Meanwhile, Artemi Panarin was named to the Second Team All-Stars at left wing after registering 92 points (29 goals, 63 assists) in 82 matches. It should also be noted that Mika Zibanejad finished sixth for centers and Igor Shesterkin place eighth.

New York Rangers schedule coming

The New York Rangers 2023-24 regular-season schedule will be released later today.

One confirmed matchup will be against the New York Islanders at MetLife Stadium on February 18th for the NHL’s Stadium Series. Forever Blueshirts has also learned that game will be one of four matchups against the rival Islanders, unlike last season’s scheduling disappointment of only three games.
