David Quinn reacts to the Rangers winning the lottery

“I almost pulled a hamstring jumping out of my chair when I saw that ping pong ball shoot up that little shoot there,” Quinn told hosts, Michelle Gingras and Anson Carter. “Obviously it was a week of highs and lows. And to then have that happen Monday night, really switched things a little bit. It made everyone feel good.”

The coach will be appearing on a new episode of “Around the NHL”, that airs tonight at 6:30 on MSG Networks. Here’s more of what you will see later.

On having the #1 selection

“I have a lot of faith in our organization, our scouting staff, Jeff Gorton and Chris Drury, that we’re going to pick the right player. And they have done a heck of a job these last 2 years since we’ve sent out that letter. It’s another great asset to have and these guys have done a phenomenal job to put us in the position we are today.”

On the team’s success this year

“I think there was an inner belief within our locker room that we could be a good hockey team. And if you don’t have hope or have belief, you don’t have anything. You have no chance to have success.”

On his excitement around the roster going forward

“There were a laundry list of players that had good seasons that maybe you wouldn’t expect.  Starting with Mika. Strome had a great season. Panarin had a great season. Chytil had a great season after coming back from Hartford. Kappo made some great strides. Howden made some great strides. Lindgren and Fox, nobody counted on them having the seasons they had. I thought Trouba had a great second half. Marc Staal had a great second half. Tony DeAngelo had a great season. There are a bunch of guys that we can point to as an organization that we feel really good about right now.”

Thanks to MSG Networks for sharing this with us, so that we can give you a sneak peek for tonight. Don’t miss it.
