Jesper Fast is out for the Rangers, Vitali Kravtsov could debut in the playoffs

It isn’t unheard of for a rookie to play his first NHL game in the playoffs. Four Rangers that come to mind are Mike Richter, Tony Amonte, Doug Weight, and Chris Kreider. We may be adding another name to that list tomorrow in Vitali Kravtsov.

David Quinn provides injury updates after practice

Jesper Fast out for game 2 against Carolina (NHLI)

Both Steven Fogarty and Vitali Kravtsov skated with the regulars today and one will replace Jesper Fast tomorrow. Head coach, David Quinn will have to make a tough decision between the two knowing that it will be for limited minutes.

If that is the case, Fogarty is ideally suited to eat that time on the 4th line. However, if Quinn wants to be aggressive and hope to catch lightning in a bottle. Kravtsov is the highly gifted offensive talent.

When it comes to Igor Shesterkin, the Rangers will see how he feels after today’s practice before deeming him fit to play. Henrik Lundqvist, who was excellent in game one, stopping 34 of 37 Carolina shots would be the starter if Igor can’t go.

Other news and notes from Quinn were that both Mika Zibanejad and Tony DeAngelo were giving the day off for maintenance. Both are expected to play.
