The New York Rangers are going to have to do something in Carolina to end the Hurricanes 7 game winning streak on home ice.

The Blueshirts already have a Game 7 win under their belts but that came at Madison Square Garden against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Round One. Now they face the Hurricanes at PNC Arena, a team that has outscored their opponents 25-8 at home. Including the Rangers 7-2 in the three homes games played there in this series.

“The three games in Carolina were different type of games than the three games in New York. Why? I don’t know,” Gerard Gallant explained. “We open it up, get more scoring chances, but we also give up more. I ask them to play the same way every night.”

What New York Rangers are saying about Game 7

Gerard Gallant: “We can say ‘it’s just another game’ but if we lose we go home. We know what’s at stake. You can’t change your preparation or your game plan. You play the game and you play it hard hoping you get the breaks and win a hockey game.”

Artemi Panarin: “We have to play a very disciplined game. We have to play our best offense and best defense, but if we had just one key, we probably would’ve won by now.”

Andrew Copp: “I think we have confidence going into [Game 7]. We feel like we have the recipe for success but they probably do too. It’s one of those where both teams feel confident so it’s just a matter of who can play the closest to a perfect game.”

Filip Chytil: “We have to find a way to win the game and just play how we play at home. We found a way to win in Pittsburgh. We have to play hard, we have to play our game and don’t focus on any other thing. Just focus on the game and I think we can win the game.”

Frank Vatrano: “We know how good of a team we have and how important [Game 7] is. Being an underdog or a favorite it doesn’t matter. You can’t look at the past games in [Carolina]. You have to focus on that one game and win it.”

Jacob Trouba: “We believe how good we are in the room. There’s obviously been the narrative that we’re inexperienced. I don’t think we really care our pay attention to it. We know what we have inside the room and know what we’re capable of.”

Ryan Strome: “The last game left a salty taste in our mouth. We just want another chance in Raleigh and it should be a great game.”

Tyler Motte: “Just belief in our group. We’ve got a lot of great guys in that room. We have each other’s back and go to work for each other. It’s Game 7 (next) let’s see what we’re made of.”

Hurricanes confident they can close it out

Rod Brind’Amour: “I think there’s confidence just in general. We know if we play our game we’re going to have a good chance. We’re always focusing on the next and we’ve got another day, so it’s a good opportunity.”

Brady Skjei: “It’s frustrating we couldn’t close it out. We’ll try and move on from this pretty quickly. We have a lot of confidence at home, like our record shows. We’re excited and we’ll be ready to go Monday.”

Tony DeAngelo: “The season’s on the line, right? It’s a lot of fun. It takes a lot of character from the team to go out there and play the right way and come out with a win like we did last time. So we’ve just got to try to do the same thing we did a series ago.”
