New York Rangers Mika Zibanejad ranked top 10 center in NHL

New York Rangers pivot Mika Zibanejad is ranked 10 overall for centers by NHL Network. Recently, Artemi Panarin earned top honors for wingers and now Mika is being recognized for his rise to stardom.

Over at NHL.com the top 10 centers were ranked as follows:

  2. Nathan MacKinnon
  3. Leon Draisaitl
  4. Sidney Crosby
  5. Auston Matthews
  6. Jack Eichel
  7. Patrice Bergeron
  8. Evgeni Malkin
  9. Brayden Point
  10. Mika Zibanejad

Zibanejad had the only five-goal game in the NHL last season (March 5 against the Washington Capitals) and led the NHL in goals per game (0.72; 41 in 57). Although he missed 13 games with an upper-body injury, he set NHL career highs for goals and points (75), increasing his total in each for the third straight season. Zibanejad led Rangers forwards in average ice time (21:38 per game) and average shorthanded ice time (2:37 per game), and he was tied for third in the NHL with five shorthanded points.

When breaking down the top centers, NHL analysts admitted that it took the pause to slow him down. His 41 goals in just 57 games played was staggering as were his 75 points.

The exclamation point to Mika’s season was no doubt his 5 goal game against the Capitals late in the year. It highlighted just was a dominant force he can be and made the entire hockey world take notice of his incredible shot.
