Adam Fox among 3 Rangers invited to United States Olympic Orientation Camp
Three members of the New York Rangers were among 44 players invited to the United States Olympic Orientation Camp, to be held Aug. 26-27 in Plymouth, Michigan. Defenseman Adam Fox will be joined by forwards J.T. Miller and Vincent Trocheck at the two-day camp, which is “largely an administrative and team-building event and includes no formal on-ice activity or public component,” per a USA Hockey press release.
Each of those Rangers players represented the United States at the 4 Nations Face-Off this past February. Team USA lost the championship game to Canada 3-2 in overtime.
Fox came under fire for his subpar play in that tournament. It didn’t help that he was pulled out of position when Connor McDavid scored the championship-winning goal.
As a result, Fox wasn’t among the first six players named to the U.S. Olympic roster in June. He was one of the first six players named by USA Hockey to the 4 Nations roster back in June 2024.
The 27-year-old tied for sixth among NHL defensemen last season with 51 assists and was ninth with 61 points in 74 games. Fox put up at least 70 points in each of the previous three seasons, and the 2021 Norris Trophy winner as the NHL’s top defenseman feels like a good bet to land a spot on the U.S. squad that will participate in the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics.
He is one of 16 defensemen invited to Olympic camp later this month. Among those included are former Rangers defensemen Ryan McDonagh (Tampa Bay Lightning) and Brady Skjei (Nashville Predators).

Adam Fox, J.T. Miller, Vincent Trocheck of Rangers invited to U.S. Olympic camp

Like Fox, Miller and Trocheck each was pointless in four games at the 4 Nations Face-Off. Miller played a hard-hitting role on a line with the Tkachuk brothers — Matthew and Brady. Trocheck was in a bottom-six role and played on the penalty kill with Miller.
Miller had an NHL career-high 103 points with the Vancouver Canucks two seasons ago. He dipped to 70 points (22 goals, 48 assists) last season, though was better than a point-per-game player with the Rangers (35 points in 32 games) after he was acquired in a trade with the Canucks on Jan. 31.
Trocheck was second on the Rangers with 26 goals last season and finished with 59 points. Two seasons ago, Trocheck had a career-best 77 points.
What makes him such an intriguing option for Team USA is that Trocheck is elite in the face-off circle — he’s 54.0 percent for his career and won 59.3 percent of his draws last season.
Neither Fox, Miller, nor Trocheck has represented the United States in the Winter Olympics. NHL players haven’t participated in the Olympic Games since 2014. McDonagh, then a star Rangers defenseman, was on the 2014 United States team that finished fourth at the Sochi Olympics.
Rangers coach Mike Sullivan will be behind Team USA’s bench at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics. He also coached the United States at the 4 Nations Face-Off.
