MSG Networks to honor Mr. Ranger Rod Gilbert with full day lineup of classics
The great Rod Gilbert passed away yesterday at the age of 80. He was the face of the franchise for decades and the team’s most famous fan. Gilbert will be remembered for not only his on-ice heroics but for his charitable work for the community.
Today, MSG Networks will be airing special programming to honor the life and legacy of the Rod Gilbert.
Starting at noon today and through 11pm tonight, the network will air a block of programming that will give fans a look back at the memorable career of ‘Mr. Ranger’. The schedule will include shows that feature some of the following:
- ‘Rod Gilbert Night’ – pregame ceremony honoring Rod at MSG in 1977
- ‘GAG Line’ – the famous hockey line consisting of Rod and his linemates Vic Hadfield and Jean Ratelle
- Highlights from iconic Rangers playoff games featuring Rod, including from the ‘72 Stanley Cup Finals and ‘74 ECF (shows include Rod in-studio providing commentary and a look back at the games)

NHL Cover Athlete believes Leafs can win it all
