Rangers minor leaguer explodes for 5 points in Wolf Pack home finale
Trey Fix-Wolansky and the Hartford Wolf Pack gave the fans at PeoplesBank Arena quite the going away present in their final home game of the 2025-26 American Hockey League season. The veteran forward spurred a rousing comeback Friday with three goals and five points in a 7-5 victory over the Springfield Thunderbirds on Fan Appreciation Night.
The Wolf Pack scored five unanswered goals in the third period, capped by Fix-Wolansky’s empty-netter that sealed his second hat trick of the season. Earlier in the period, Fix-Wolansky set up Casey Fitzgerald’s goal which tied the score 5-5 at 7:43. Eight minutes later, he picked up a secondary assists on Carey Terrance’s goal, which proved to be the game-winner.
“Just wanted to give the crowd something to cheer about, and go off with a bang,” Fix-Wolansky said postgame.
The 26-year-old reached and passed 30 goals on the season, becoming the first Hartford player to do so since Nicklas Jensen in 2016-17. His 31 goals are a career high, besting the 29 he scored with Cleveland of the AHL in the 2022-23 season.
“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t thinking about it coming into today, so to be able to hit that in one game and get 31 is pretty special, first time in my career,” he said of reaching the 30-goal milestone.
Fix-Wolansky leads the Wolf Pack in both goals and points (53). The scrappy forward, who stands 5-foot-6, also has a team-high 121 penalty minutes. He is one of six players to score 30 goals in the AHL this season. The current league-leader is former Rangers forward Arthur Kaliyev, who has 40 goals with Belleville.
Despite his scoring ability, gritty style, and 26 games of NHL experience with the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Rangers didn’t recall Fix-Wolansky this season, even as their season went off the rails and other Hartford forwards were called up.
Fix-Wolansky, who can be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season, opened the scoring Friday, and then tied the game 2-2 with his 30th goal in the second period. This was his seventh multi-goal game in 2025-26; his other hat trick was Jan. 20 against Hershey. He was named AHL Player of the Week in early March.
Terrance contributed three points (one goal, two assists) to the winning effort, and Brody Lamb scored his fourth goal and recorded his eighth point in 14 games since signing an ATO with Hartford following the end of his NCAA career at Minnesota. Defenseman Scott Morrow had two assists.
