NHL oddsmakers not giving New York Rangers much of a shot this year

We knew that the East Division after NHL realignment was going to be tough. Well the betting oddsmakers don’t see the New York Rangers fairing to well and place them sixth in the 8 team division.

Using last year as a barometer

Last season, the Rangers had a winning record against just three teams, the Islanders, Penguins and Capitals. They had no wins against the Flyers and Bruins. Shockingly they were .500 against the Devils and Sabres.

The Rangers did have four wins against the Hurricanes. But they got swapped out for the Bruins which doesn’t help matters at all.

Head to head results in 2019-2020 season with goals for and against:

  • Buffalo – 1-1, 8 GF, 5GA
  • New Jersey – 2-2 16 GF, 14 GA
  • Islanders – 3-1, 15 GF, 11 GA
  • Philadelphia- 0-3, 6 GF, 15 GA
  • Pittsburgh- 1-0, 3 GF, 2 GA
  • Washington 2-1, 12 GF, 11 GA
  • Boston – 0-2-1, 7 GF, 13 GA
