On October 29th, the SHL announced the postponements of games due to positive cases of COVID-19. According to Lulea team doctors, there are confirmed cases on the team and they suspect more.
SHL press release on postponements
It is the overall medical assessment of Luleå and Rögle’s medical team that is the basis for the decision. Luleå has confirmed Covid cases within the team and suspicion of further cases, thus postponing their two remaining matches before the break, comments Johan Hemlin, sports director and deputy CEO SHL.
New game dates will be announced shortly.
What’s going on with Nils Lundkvist
Recently, Nils was added to Team Sweden’s roster but has been removed prior to the Karjala Tournament which begins in three days. This does not mean Nils has tested positive since there is no official report.
What can be safely understood here is that Nils must go through a quarantine period either way. We wish Nils and all those impacted well.
Rangers pick Nils Lundkvist continues to impress
Nils Lundkvist was drafted in the first round, 28th overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He has notched four points (two goals, two assists) and 26 shots on goal in 10 SHL games in 2020-21, and he has averaged 20:20 of ice time in the 10 contests.

In addition, he is tied for fifth among SHL defensemen in goals this season; he is one of only two SHL defensemen in their U21 season or younger who have recorded two goals in 2020-21, and he is also tied for third among SHL defensemen who are in their U21 season or younger in points this season. Lundkvist ranks third on Lulea (ranks second among team defensemen) in average ice time this season, and his 20:20 average ice time per game in 2020-21 is the highest among all SHL players who are 20 years old or younger.
