Pierre McGuire not so hot on Lafreniere and NHL trade rumors

Former Hartford Whalers Asst. GM and TV color commentator, Pierre McGuire was on WFAN radio to talk hockey. They talked about hockey in NY and he touched on the Islanders as well.

Pierre McGuire not overly impressed with Alexis Lafreniere

When he was asked for his take on Alexis Lafreniere he said the following:

Is he a Connor McDavid? No. A Nathan MacKinnon? No. He’s not the kind of player who can take over games as a winger. But he’s a spectacular player and is going to be a huge part of the Rangers moving forward.”

Well thanks for nothing Pierre. In truth, Lafreniere has shown the ability to take over a game and a tournament if we’re being honest. His play for Canada at the World Juniors was evidence of that.

NHL rumors Johnny Gaudreau

Johnny Gaudreau has been in the NHL trade rumor mill dating back to early this season. The Flames left winger just turned 27 this month. He had a decent year with 58 points in 70 games, but a far cry from last year’s 99 point campaign.

In a recent interview with The Calgary Sun, Johnny Hockey said that the Flames are team he could play his whole career for. Now the question is what Calgary will decide to do.
